ADMISSIONS
English is the language of instruction at New Meridian University. You can demonstrate proficiency with a degree taught in English or an accepted test result.
For applicants who use English as a second or additional language, this page explains the evidence NMU accepts, what testing involves, and how results are reviewed.
YOUR OPTIONS
ACCEPTED TESTS
Submit the result for the test you took. For TOEFL iBT, use the requirement that corresponds to your test date.

TESTING AND RESULTS
All three tests assess reading, listening, writing, and speaking. Review the provider’s sample questions, identification rules, equipment requirements, and available dates before booking. Test fees and availability depend on the provider and location.
Understanding written passages, main ideas, and supporting details.
Following spoken information in conversations and presentations.
Organizing ideas and expressing them clearly in written English.
Explaining ideas and responding to questions in spoken English.
Approximately 2 hours 45 minutes
Take IELTS Academic at a test centre or through IELTS Online where available. You complete listening, reading, and writing tasks, plus a speaking interview with an examiner. Select the Academic version when booking.
Results are available through your test-taker account. IELTS lists 1–5 days for computer tests and 6–8 days for IELTS Online. Notification arrangements depend on the booking provider; British Council and IELTS USA send an email link.
Your Test Report Form is issued electronically or on paper. Upload the electronic report or a clear PDF scan of the paper report. View IELTS result guidance.
Allow approximately 2 hours
Take the computer-based test at an authorized test centre or choose the Home Edition with a live proctor. Tasks assess reading and listening comprehension, typed written responses, and spoken responses recorded through a microphone.
ETS posts scores in your ETS account about three days after the test and sends an email when they are ready. Download the PDF score report when it becomes available after your electronic results.
The TOEFL score scale changed on January 21, 2026. Check your test date against the minimum-score table above. View TOEFL result guidance.
Approximately 1 hour
Take the adaptive online test on a computer in a suitable private setting. Question difficulty adjusts to your responses. You also complete writing and speaking samples. The setup requires a camera, microphone, speakers, identification, and a phone used as a secondary camera.
Duolingo normally provides results within two days and emails you when they are ready. Open your certified result in your account, select “Print Results,” and save the certificate as a PDF.
Also generate the shareable certificate link so NMU can verify the result. View Duolingo PDF instructions.
SUBMIT YOUR EVIDENCE
Upload your English proficiency evidence through NMU’s online application form. This can be a test score report or documentation showing that your completed degree was taught in English.
Copies are accepted for the initial application review. Keep the full report and any result-verification link available in case Admissions needs to confirm a detail.
YOUR REVIEW OUTCOME
Admissions reviews your evidence as part of your application and confirms the outcome in writing. Your test provider issues your score; NMU determines whether the evidence meets its English proficiency requirement.
Your English proficiency evidence has been accepted. Your application remains subject to the other admission requirements and verification steps.
The written update will explain what is missing or requires clarification. This may involve a complete score report, confirmation of English-medium instruction, or a test result meeting the published minimum.
Admissions can help you identify which evidence applies to your background and clarify the documents needed for review. Ask before arranging a test if you already hold a degree taught in English.
