+10.1%projected growth for computer and mathematical occupations, 2024–34 — more than 3× the all-occupation average, per the BLS projections.
28.5%projected growth for information security analysts — the fastest-growing computer occupation in the same BLS projections.
6,437patents issued on university technology in a single year — a commercialization wave the field is short-staffed to manage, per NSF data.

Where the economy’s growth actually lives

Technology occupations are the fastest-growing corner of the labor market — and the management layer above them is the scarcest.

The BLS 2024–34 projections rank computer and mathematical occupations second-fastest of all 22 occupational groups — 10.1 percent growth, with information security analysts alone at 28.5 percent. The pay follows the scarcity: computer and information systems managers hold a median of $175,140, per the BLS management data. But growth in technologists is not the same as growth in leaders — the person who can govern an enterprise architecture, defend a security budget in front of a board, or decide which of 6,437 annual university patents is worth a licensing deal remains rare by an order of magnitude.

The School of Technology builds that person. Its three doctorates cover the technology stack from silicon to society: Information Technology Management for the governance of enterprise systems, Cybersecurity for the defense of everything those systems hold, and Technology Transfer for the pipeline that carries research out of the laboratory and into the economy. Each is a research doctorate for working professionals — 60 credit hours, 100% online, one to two years, ending in a dissertation on a live problem from your own practice.

Technology infrastructure in a data center
Every layer of the stack now needs a governing layer above it — that is the school’s entire premise.
The technologists are arriving. The school exists to produce the people qualified to lead them.

The three specializations

DTech / Ph.D.

Research doctorates across the technology stack — governance, defense, and commercialization.

The path every specialization shares

Five gates between admission and the title — the same five for every specialization in the school:

1

The coursework

Sixty credit hours online, paced around a full-time career.

2

The Candidacy Qualifying Exam

Command of the field and the research methods, confirmed in one sitting.

3

The dissertation proposal

Your question, defended before your committee before a word is written.

4

The ethics review

New Meridian’s registered IRB keeps the research publishable and credible.

5

The final defense

Your findings, your committee, and the conversation that ends with the title.

Questions, answered

Can I finish while working full-time?

Yes — all three specializations are 100% online and asynchronous, and most students complete the 60 credit hours in one to two years while working as engineers, security leads, or research administrators.

Is this an engineering doctorate?

No — it is a technology leadership doctorate. The subject is the governance of technology: systems, security, and commercialization studied as management disciplines at research depth.

What stands between me and the degree?

Five gates shared by every specialization — coursework, the qualifying exam, the proposal, IRB ethics review, and the final defense.
