Admissions
Doctoral Admissions Requirements
New Meridian University admits doctoral students who demonstrate the academic preparation and motivation needed to succeed in rigorous online study. All programs are delivered fully online in an asynchronous format designed for working professionals and independent learners.
Applicants must hold a recognized master’s degree and meet the University’s academic readiness standards. Admission decisions are based on prior academic performance, authenticity of credentials, and readiness for doctoral-level coursework.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for admission to a doctoral program, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Hold a master’s degree from an accredited institution
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Be prepared for fully online, asynchronous doctoral study
Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Applications are reviewed individually by New Meridian University faculty and staff to determine readiness for doctoral-level study.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit the following materials:
- Completed online application
- Official transcripts from all graduate institutions attended
- Documentation verifying completion of a master’s degree
- Identification and contact information
- English proficiency documentation if prior education was not conducted in English
The University may request additional documentation when needed to verify academic credentials.
Admissions Process
The admissions process follows these steps:
- Submit the online application and required documents
- New Meridian faculty and staff reviews the application
- Credentials are verified and evaluated
- An admission decision is issued in writing
Applicants may receive one of the following decisions:
- Full admission
- Conditional admission
- Admission denial
International Applicants
Applicants who earned degrees outside the United States may be required to submit a third-party credential evaluation to verify degree equivalency.
Applicants whose prior academic instruction was not conducted in English must provide evidence of English language proficiency through an approved method of assessment.
Admission decisions are issued only after international academic credentials have been successfully verified.
Transfer Credit and Advanced Standing
New Meridian University may accept limited doctoral-level transfer credit from accredited institutions.
Transfer credit is evaluated separately from the admissions decision and must meet institutional equivalency and residency requirements.
Approval of admission does not guarantee acceptance of transfer credit.
ABD Applicants
Applicants who have completed doctoral coursework but did not complete a dissertation at another institution may apply for admission as ABD candidates.
These applications are reviewed individually by the Academic Committee. Admission is contingent on verification of prior doctoral coursework and academic standing.
Acceptance into the program does not guarantee that previous coursework or dissertation work will transfer.
Conditional Admission
In some cases, applicants who demonstrate academic potential but do not fully meet standard admission criteria may be offered conditional admission.
Conditional admission may require students to meet academic benchmarks, complete preparatory coursework, or satisfy other academic requirements.
Failure to meet the stated conditions may result in academic action under University policy.
Admission Decisions
Applicants are notified in writing after the review process is complete.
Admission offers are time-limited and require completion of all enrollment steps before beginning coursework.
Applicants who are denied admission may reapply in a future admissions cycle.
New Meridian University applies admissions standards consistently and does not discriminate in admissions decisions.
