Update your personnel information
Check that your agreement states your start date, duties, workload, supervisor or contract contact, approved work location, compensation, and payment schedule. Accept the written terms before starting work. If any detail is missing or differs from what you discussed, contact hr@newmeridianuniversity.org before the assignment begins.
Prepare your current CV or résumé, contact and emergency-contact details, and any required licenses or certifications. Faculty must provide official transcripts for the degrees supporting their academic assignment. HR will tell you which records are needed and how to submit them.
Complete the payroll, tax, or contractor payment forms requested by HR. Ask HR for a secure submission method before sending banking details, tax documents, identity documents, or medical records. Do not attach them to ordinary email.
For pay dates, invoice terms, and leave eligibility, see Appointments, Compensation, and Benefits.
Use your own university-authorized accounts. Before taking on work that requires system access, check that you can sign in, complete the required authentication, and open the systems assigned to you. Report missing access or access to information you do not need. Never borrow a colleague’s login.
Orientation covers where to store university records, how to communicate with students and colleagues, and whom to contact about technical problems or workplace concerns. Review the policies supplied by HR, complete the handbook acknowledgment, and submit the required conflict-of-interest disclosure.
For current policy documents and help choosing a form, see Employment Policies and Resources.
If you cannot access an account or have not received onboarding instructions, email hr@newmeridianuniversity.org with your name, position, start date, and the system or document you need. Do not include passwords. You can also request an accessible document format or an accommodation for training.
Required onboarding and training count as work for employees. Record the time according to NMU’s payroll instructions. Contractors follow the preparation and payment terms in their agreements.
Before teaching, review the assigned syllabus, learning outcomes, course materials, assessments, grading procedures, and feedback deadlines. Complete training in the learning management system and confirm access to your assigned course. Academic leadership checks your preparation for the course, student communication, authorized accommodations, and referrals to student support.
Dissertation chairs and committee members must review the research milestones, responsibilities for reviewing submissions, documentation, research ethics, and IRB requirements for their assignments.
Ask your supervisor or academic contact to identify any requirement still outstanding, who will resolve it, and its deadline. Do not begin an assignment that depends on a missing credential, academic approval, or essential preparation. Other administrative paperwork may be completed by its applicable deadline when it does not prevent the work from starting.
For review schedules, evaluation criteria, and training requests after you begin work, see Performance and Professional Development.
Email hr@newmeridianuniversity.org when your contact or emergency-contact details, qualifications, licenses, or professional standing change. Identify the information that changed and its effective date. Ask for secure instructions if supporting documents contain sensitive information.
Changes to duties, compensation, appointment duration, or work location require written approval before they take effect. See Remote Work and Workplace Support before working from a different state, province, or country. If you return to NMU or change positions, HR reviews the changed requirements and reuses current records where possible.
Employees and former employees can request inspection or copies of their personnel records by emailing hr@newmeridianuniversity.org. Identify the records you want and whether you are requesting inspection or copies.
HR verifies your identity and provides access within ten business days of the request, or sooner when required. Some information may be withheld or redacted to meet legal requirements or protect another person’s information. HR explains any restriction.
To request a correction, identify the entry, explain the error, and state the correction you are requesting. If you disagree with an evaluation or professional judgment, you may submit a written response to be attached to the record. Disagreement alone does not remove the original evaluation.
Send verification requests to hr@newmeridianuniversity.org. Include your name, the organization requesting verification, its contact details, the information requested, the purpose, and the deadline. If the organization has a form, ask HR how to submit it securely.
HR or an authorized designee handles official employment verification. HR checks the requester’s identity, authority, and basis for receiving the information before releasing it.
